Movies and series
If your provider supplies movies and series (video on demand, VOD for short) alongside live channels, Neverlag shows them in a section of their own. Everything there comes entirely from the provider: titles, images, descriptions, genres, episode lists. Neverlag adds nothing and checks nothing.
Importing movies and series
Movie and series groups do not come into the app automatically. You select them during setup or later via Manage groups & reload. If the section is empty, the app says: “No movies imported – Movie groups of the provider can be imported via ‘Manage groups & reload’ in Settings.”
Large catalogues take a while on the first load; the progress is shown in the hint line.
Overview
The section shows rows:
- Continue watching – titles you have started, with your position.
- Recently added – what the provider has newly put into the catalogue.
- Recommended for you – titles from genres you watch often. The app works this out locally; nothing leaves the device.
“Show all” opens the whole list. The search (“Search titles”, “Search series”) searches your provider’s catalogue.
Genres and filters
You can filter by Category, Genre, Year or decade (“1990s”), Language and Rating (“from 7”); “Reset” removes all filters.
Many providers do not supply genres and details in the list, but only individually per title. That is why there is the setting Load movie details: it fetches genre and details for each title individually, at most two requests per second, which can take a long time with large catalogues. Meanwhile the app shows “Syncing genres … 1240 of 5800”. If you open a movie, the app loads its details anyway.
The detail page
For a movie: image, description, duration, Director, Cast, rating, Trailer (if the provider supplies one) and the buttons “Play”, “Resume from 1:12:30” or “Start over”. “Add to favorites” remembers the title.
For a series: seasons and episodes (“Season 2”, “Episode 5”, “45 min/episode”). If the provider supplies no episode list: “The provider supplies no episode list for this series.”
Continue watching
Neverlag remembers where you stopped. The next time you open the title, the app asks: “Continue watching? You have watched this title before.” – “Continue watching at 48:12” or “Start over” (discards the saved position). Titles you have finished carry “✓ Watched”.
Your private iCloud syncs the positions between your Apple devices: started on the iPad, continued on the Apple TV. There is no Neverlag account for this; it is the same iCloud as for favourites and tags. More under Subscription and backup → Privacy.
In the player
The player for movies and series offers pause, skipping (back 15 seconds) and a progress bar. You choose the audio track and subtitles via the subtitles icon, provided the movie brings several – just like with live TV, see Picture and sound → Audio tracks.
Autoplay (next episode starts by itself) does not exist in 1.0.2; you choose the next episode on the series page. See Contributing → Open.
Parental controls
Movies and series can be locked via Lock categories if the provider keeps them in categories of their own (“Adult”). Parental controls do not lock individual titles; they work with categories and live channels.
